Furoshiki

I take a strong anti-plastic bag where unnecessary stance. I normally tote around a fold up bag that was until today when I discovered the Japanese concept of a Furoshiki. It is the folding of a cloth to carry wine, groceries, to be a picnic rug, wall hanging, table cloth, scarf , wrapping paper & anything else you can imagine really.

There has been a trend of late (well for a while know) where ladies are tying silk scarves to their hand bags. As a collector of silk scarves I have been guilty of such acts. From now however I am going to invest in one (or several) of these and tote them around everywhere. These designs are particularly catchy as well and there is a full catalogue of techniques available here.

P.S. These would be easy to make as well. What a great way to wrap presents, especially if you included a print out of techniques. I looked into sizing small is 30cm, medium 50cm, large 90cm and extra large 118cm each side, just for reference: you could make them as large or small as needing.
