Trick or Treat

Today for the first time in my life I bought Halloween "candy". Just in case cause I don’t want to be that horrible person who gives out crap when the few eager beavers come trick or treating in costumes that evidently have been stapled together that afternoon after school. Cause we don’t celebrate Halloween here, I have never been trick or treating but reports from the friends that have reveal there is not much point if your after candy. Mostly people will give fruit or dried fruit (I live in a community that is predominantly retirees) I have heard of toothbrushes or nuts being given, occasionally a snack pack of chips and most commonly loose change just to get the kids to go away. I guess you could in essence collect the change and buy your own candy but honestly where is the fun in that? So I am now equipped with goodies to hand out and if all else fails they will be a delicious birthday treat anyway.

p.s. Don't you love the word candy? Some American terms I really don't like (i.e. couch & panties) but candy I could get used too (I think my love stems from Aaron Carter's song I Want Candy).
