On the list?

I recently sorted out my wardrobe. I chucked the things I haven't worn in years or that no longer fit and in doing so have decided to change my outlook on a few things. I now will only buy something if it " makes me want to dance". If you are questioning an item don't bother. Too I recently read the concept of keeping a shopping list with you at all times. As someone on a student budget I think this is a wonderful idea: a great way to question whether you genuinely want something and a great motivator to save for those investment pieces. By shopping list I mean a list of the items in your 'dream' closet. Things you can wear over and over again: the basics you need for everyday living. I know this sounds awfully limiting but I figure if one dress can be worn for a year I can limit myself to a list. List number one if drafted below:
Note my wardrobe is limited in colour to black, navy, grey, neutrals (creams/whites/pinks/minks), metallics & 4 highlight colours: magenta, royal purple, cobalt blue & coral.

Outerwear
  • Overcoat x 2 (1 Black, 1 Bright (cobalt blue perhaps?))
  • Macs/Trenches x lots (in black, grey, navy, cream & highlight colours.)
  • Blazers (as above)
  • Denim Jacket
  • Leather Jacket (Black for sure and maybe a nice grey/natural)

Underwear
  • Basic everyday undies & bras (nude tones & black)
  • Sports bras
  • Strapless bra
  • Underwear sets (a little bit fancy to make yourself feel good!)
  • thermals
  • socks (you can never have too many socks)
  • stockings (basic sheers + blacks & assorted colours to cheer up boring winter days)

Tops
  • basics (tees, tanks & 3/4 sleeve tees in all colours)
  • blouses (half decent tops that can be dressed up or down in all colours)
  • button downs (I love the corporate look so a crisp white button down is a must as are a few back ups)
  • cardigans/sweaters (perfect for in between seasons: all colours)

Bottoms
  • jeans (blue, sark blue & black)
  • tailored pants/trousers (black, navy & grey)
  • tailored shorts (not too short: black, grey, navy, neutral + denim)
  • skirts (work (pencil) + casual + party)
  • dresses (work + summer + party + gown)

Extras
  • Exercise outfit (coordinated of course)
  • 3 piece suit (skirt, pants & jacket)
  • scarves/gloves/hats
  • belts + cocktail jewellery

Shoes
  • sneakers
  • boots (leather ankle & calf)
  • flats
  • heels
  • sandles

Bags
  • handbag
  • across body bag
  • evening clutch
  • laptop/work bag
  • overnight/weekender + luggage
  • gym bag

What would you keep on your list? I realise mine is vague but really if need be it could be packed easily (within a suitcase or two) and would ensure your outfits are all always coordinated.

Lets see how long this lasts.
