Dreamy Bedrooms.

Today is the first of the month. That said I have promised myself I will start spring cleaning several areas of my life. Starting with my bedroom. When I returned from overseas, I came home to a completely blank slate- a white room freshly painted. I have over the months started decorating but am not happy with the transitional state it is currently in.

I love homely homes. I love photography and wall art. I find it really sad when there are no photos on display in a home. I have been sorting through vintage photos of my parents as teens. I love them. Photos of my Dad as a teen traveling Europe in a van (taking postcard perfect photos) and later living with Monks in Thailand. Photos of my mum in a late 1960's bridal party and at the beach as a child. They are simple and beautiful and tell stories that I dream of. My mum will often say " You know, we weren't born old." Every time she does it makes me chuckle. But, it is true. My parents who now form the picture of domesticity were world travelers, athletes, feminists and even hippies perhaps. I love how multifaceted their lives have been and hope with my whole heart that my stories may one day be half as interesting as theirs.
I love those photos and am currently deciding which ones to enlarge to an alarming size.

Aside from photos (and books/DVDS/Music), it is the little things, that tell stories about whoever lives in the space.

I currently don't have too many trinkets. I however would like to change that. Starting with the wish-list below.

A homemade colourful quilt. Over crisp white sheets of course.

A Bright Geometric Lamp

A Vintage Alarm Clock.

A Indoor Lavender Plant.

A Scented Candle or Two.

& Any Over-sized Max Wanger Print.
My Mum has always held the philosophy that a bedroom should be a place to relax, somewhere calm. For that reason with the exception of a lamp- there are no electronics in her bedroom. No television or Ipad or laptop or phone.
I love this philosophy & have tried to limit my electronics as well.
Ultimately, my goal is to make my bedroom dreamy. In every sense of the word.
