I have an unwavering love for Frankie Magazine ( & Ben Law) but over the last couple of days I have discovered/rediscovered some other publications that I am seriously tempted to subscribe too. Spook is a magazine I happened across when it was first published, didn't think much more of it but picked up the latest edition the other day and fell for it. It is simple, hilarious and has rad typography which suckered me in. Dumbo Feather (what an awesome name that I hope is Disney inspired) is a quarterly that profiles five different individuals; some famed, others famed in their fields, all unique, inspiring and interesting.
I highly suggest picking up copies of either if you can get your hands on them.
Do you love any specific magazines?
I'm not really into main stream magazines; If I had to pick one it would be GQ (they use a really geometric, monochromatic layout that appeals to my inner minimalist & the photo shoots are always dapper aka the one above!), followed closely by Elle cause they too play with type and layout.
I love taking the chance to really read a magazine & have a feeling my snooping around magnation wont be seizing anytime soon.
PS. I wanted to place a Borders order but it wont be here in time for me to leave: there are a few books I'm really keen to read but alas I bought the Psychology of Love and The Prophet to take to Europe instead. I figure in a place steeped in culture and history why not get a little philosophical.
PPS. How cool is this Magazine Stool? Ingenious!
