GleeWind

Because of the commonwealth games we are now a few episodes behind on the glee front and while we probably wont have the Rocky Horror episode in time for Halloween, I thought I would take the chance to chat about all things Glee first thing this morning.

First thing, the link I posted last week to the GQ photo shoot featuring Lea, Diana & Cory has sparked massive debate about high school characters being overtly sexual/sexualized, which in turn has labeled the photographer a creep. Honestly, I liked the shoot. I think Cory looked awkward as always but lovely no less. Diana and Lea I think both looked amazing, but the controversy did lead to Diana responding on her blog, which portrays her as incredibly poised, articulate and considerate (maybe she just has a good publicist?). Glee has definitely been front and centre in printed media of late, other photo from Elle, Vogue & Glamour are all equally wonderful.

Second, murmurings for season two include a boyfriend for both Kurt and Mercedes (possibly the same guy: will Mercedes ever find love?) and new love interests for Finn & Puck (who is now in Juvie/ Salling apparently is in strife). No mention thus far of Baby Beth but John Stamos (Uncle Jesse) is doing a fine job as Emma’s Dentist beau and Nationals are in New York this year which hopefully means some cliché touristy snapshots. Tina & Artie have broken up thanks to ‘Asian Camp’, the glee club has questioned faith, recruited new members & resuscitated Britney. As someone who grew up with her and listened to her first album on repeat for several years (I still know all the words) I was interested to see what songs they chose to feature.

Honestly, like many others out there season two is yet to really grab my attention like season one did. Don’t get me wrong, I love every minute and I think the musical numbers are better than ever but I am really looking forward to an episode that isn’t themed or particularly fancy but one that once again focuses on the characters, their relationships and their insecurities.

Third and finally, (I know this is going to sound ridiculous) but with the help of Finn, Artie has joined the football team and pleaded for a try out with the logic that with centrivical force his wheelchair will when pushed/carried down the field act as a battering ram. This got me thinking, could this actually be logical? By no means do I mean to offend anyone here, I know there are wheelchair basketball leagues and track events but are there football leagues? When Artie initially joined the team, his chair had different wheels (that I assume were designed for the grass field) but are these actually used? I would be really really interested to see if technically (both in relation to the chairs themselves and currently rules and regulations) if this situation ever translated to reality if a wheelchair bound athlete could play high school football.

That is about all on the current Glee front, Jane Lynch did host SNL last week (we don’t get SNL & honestly I don’t really know what it is all about) and this week episode Duets is meant to have some killer Aretha action, so I am keen.

Ps. I stumbled upon a youtube channel devoted purely to acapella versions of all the songs glee has covered. It is really interesting to hear the difference between the raw singing and the auto-tuned tracks. I love both to tell you the truth and spent a solid portion of time going through them all If you listen closely you can here the turning of pages and shifting of feet but there is definitely some good listening to be had + the timing is exactly the same as the originals so you can sing along (and I did).
