Morning starshines

Morning Starshines,

I am currently in a computer lab at uni waiting for my online assessment to be marked. So while I'm waiting I thought I might make a quick post.

I spent a solid portion of my afternoon yesterday sorting through some of the websites I had jotted down/ made a mental note of. The list however is currently on my desktop at home so this afternoon I have a few eye opening posts.

Second, I have taken it upon myself to redesign my Dad's Cousins business logo- he does not know this yet.

He posted his logo/ business card design on Facebook yesterday, I am currently in the process of snooping to make sure no feelings are hurt in the process but honestly (and I have no doubt that this is accurate) it looks like he has downloaded this design from one of those websites.

Let me clarify- it is a Taxi/Mini Bus business for concerts, events, airport transfers that kind of thing in the middle of England. He himself is a large, hilarious man.

The design is deep red with white Times New Roman font and a Rose yes a corny corny Rose in the bottom left hand corner.

All text and pictures are alligned left there is no balance or relevance and honestly I immediately thought of a fuenral parlor. I made a few sketches on the train this morning and will finish them this afternoon and email them through to him cause honestly no one should let that branding continue and the facebook comments thus far are all positive. (nooooooooooooooooooo!!)

Next, Dotti (one of my favourite stores) is currently running this competition for amateur designers. Each month they present a brief and the winning design will be produced and sold through their chain of stores. Last month the brief was for a jacket- i thought about it and honestly ran out of time to some up with a half decent submission (even though most designs were just lead pencil sketches).

This month however my heart skipped a beat when I found out they want millinery designs! YIPEEE! So over the weekend I will be putting together a submission so that i can start to concentrate on finals which are approaching way way waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to quickly.

Last thing; the Kit Cosmetics design comp deadline is this sunday. My design is half done. I am stoked with the concept but thus far execution isn't up to par and I am still undecided on colour scheme.

So, aside from a heap of interesting web posts- expect some design concepts and my next grapeshot submission before the weekend is out.

ps. I know this is going to sound all kinds of creepy but the one and only blog I make sure to read on a daily basis is A Cup of Jo. Sadly, it has not been updated since monday and that saddens me a little but also makes me wonder if Joanna and Alex have welcomed their baby boy into the world yet? Perhaps so and if so love and best wishes to them all.
