Holmes

It seems that i have been surrounded my mystery men of late. Sadly only in a fictional sense but it seems by days recently have been filled with either James Bond and/or Sherlock Holmes.

I am currently reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and am quite taken by the logic of the character. Like The Mentalist and mentalism in general i love that his logical deductions are made pretty much purely from observation.

Whats more, I am one of those annoying people that more often than not correctly guesses who the killer is. Five, ten minutes in i normally take a stab and 90% of the time it is correct. Sherlock however keeps me guessing. I think that is why I am enjoying the read so much.

On the topic of observation, yesterday I was introduced to Derren Brown an illusionist who bases his work largely on research into cognitive psychology. It is really interesting to think that we live in a society where the majority think that they are observant and then you see thinks like this and it is a little bit of a rude awakening.
