Karma

It might just be me, being moody and all but my mood and entire day for that matter can be effected by one person.

One angry or abusive customer can stress me out and put me on edge for the rest of the day. Equally one lovely, patient person can make me smile.

I find it funny how influential our moods are.

A few weeks ago, i was grilled by one of my tutors. I left the class on the verge of tears, upset, angry & worried and as a consequence had left (and now lost) my USB behind.

I had a miserable afternoon (well was viewing everything from a miserable perspective) until i was introduced to my tutor for another course. A man who preoccupied our down time with failblog and whom having encouraged psychological debate sat back with his game boy leaving us to our own discussions. He made me laugh, encouraged our opinions and completely turned my day around from being a horrible one to being a tolerable one.

It is is the little things that count and the littlest of things can change someones day.

I remember and will never ever ever forget.
One day at work, i was on my lunch break and decided to go and sit on the bench outside to clear my mind a little. I was in my senior year and had 10 odd days left before a major thesis paper of mine was due. I had all seventy pages printed with my highlighting and shorthand all over them for the final edit when in a movie-esque scene where time slows almost to a stop, i watched a gust of wind sweep all seventy of my pages into the parking lot in front of me. Immediate Panic set in until the car in front of me stopped in the middle of the road, the driver got out collected my papers and handed them back to me. The pedestrians crossing the road picked up the papers within their reach and that afternoon i got every single one of my seventy pages back.

I felt so blessed and lucky in that moment and now think of it whenever i get upset with the state of the world.

Needless to say there have been times when my helpful efforts have gone unappreciated. One day a little fragile (well i thought) lady had dropped her handbag, as i ran after the rolling change to give it back to her she shot me the most evil stare i have ever seen. Turns out she thought i was going to steal her getaway change which mind you totalled maybe fifty cents but anyway. Its the thought that counts. So i will leave you with these videos and the knowledge that the smallest gesture will make someones day, so put some effort in. If its helping someone with their bags or letting a car in front of you someone will appreciate it and you will feel much better for it.
What goes around, comes around.

PS. I never did ask the man his name or jot down the number plate to be able to thank him. So if by some odd fate he ever stumbles upon this blog, thank you kind sir for making my day.
