My local op shop is open today and i am sad to say they currently have no records. Normally they do, it is where i have found a few of my now most prized possessions, so i thought i would share with you some of the op-shop records i have found;
1. Michael Jackson: Bad
Actually the best twenty cents i have ever spent. Ever. I am not afraid to admit my heart did stop and i may have lost my breath when my eyes rolled over this one in the pile.
What makes this the best of the bunch is the fact that two of my top three MJ songs are from the album! It is the one that is pretty much always on the record player.
2. Billy Joel: An Innocent Man
Billy Joel has quite a presence in my collection. That is the thing i love about sourcing records from op shops at each one you can tell that the majority of records have come from the one person cause there will be 10 Billy Joel records or Marci Hine's entire discography. Any way; growing up my parents had a 6 disc cd player and the same six cds can still be found in the player. Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, Crowded House, Billy Joel, The Beatles and possibly the Led. They remind me of summer and so when i stumbled across this album i couldn't help but think of summer sunshine and the Westlife cover of Uptown Girl that im not afraid to admit i used to like quite a lot.
3. The Sound of Music OST
Name a musical and chances are i have the OST record of it. That is thanks to living in a town thats demographic is rapidly aging. Needless to say, i appreciate it. The Sound of Music (along with Grease and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) is a film that (to the dismay of my mother) i watched over and over and over again during childhood. I know everyword to every song and always did dream of dancing in a gazebo.
Honorary mentions go to The Village People, ABBA and The Seekers.
Are there any goodens you have found? I would love to hear.
